MANGALORE:
Curfew was relaxed for 12 hours for the second day on Wednesday in the city, its
rural limits, Konaje and Ullal which appeared to return to normalcy after
communal violence left two persons dead in the last few
days.
The curfew was relaxed
from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm but it would remain in force in the night, district
Superintendent of Police B Dayanand
said.
It was a totally
incident-free day on Tuesday after the relaxation of curfew, he
said.
However, prohibitory
orders under section 144 would continue during the relaxation period, he
added.
Meanwhile, Chief
Minister HD Kumaraswamy is expected to arrive on Wednesday evening and visit
riot-hit areas, he
said.
Violence broke out when
some Bajrang Dal activists stopped a vehicle carrying cattle to a
slaughterhouse.
Schools and
colleges which were closed since Thursday last re-opened on
Wednesday.
